Education
Jesus Loves the Little Children Foundation, Inc. (JLLCFI) is a non- profit organization working to meet the needs of the orphaned, neglected, abandoned and/or abused street children in Metro Manila. The vision is to rescue hundreds of children from the streets to be cared for and loved as one’s own.
JLLCFI has a deep conviction to reach out to the growing number of out of school children. In agreement with the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of a Child, we affirm that all children have the right to education. In the Philippines, education is considered as an important avenue or passport to upward social mobility-a hope for the future among the lower class.
We often think of school as a socializing institution that shapes the attitudes, values, knowledge and behavior to promote development of every person. To a Filipino and his family, education is an “instrument” toward better job, greater self-respect and social esteem, and to the parents, educated children are a continuing source of security for old age.
Formal In-House School
Those who qualify for formal education are given special and tutorial classes inside the Center under the supervision of the In-house Special Education Teachers (SPED). Children living in Single-Family Housing with their parents are provided edcational and health care assistance. This program is not limited to JLLCFI’s residents but is also given to former residents who are in the After Care Program and to a selected group of Community children who could not afford public education.
Informal/Alternative - Tutorials, Mothers' Class, and Family Enrichment Seminar
Educational Sponsorship
JLLCFI’s Education Program aims at providing the basic right of every Filipino child to education. JLLCFI facilitates the processing of documents for the children’s admission to formal education. Through Educational Sponsorship a child is guaranteed formal education with provision of tuition fees, school supplies and bag, books, school projects, transportation allowance, field trip and snacks, medical and dental care.
